Dimsie Goes to School
   by Dorita F. Bruce

When ten-year-old Dimsie is sent to boarding school by her Army officer father, she already has some idea of what to expect. After all, she has read lots of stories of school life, and her much admired elder cousin Daphne, who goes to the same school, has given Dimsie some inside information about the mistresses and girls.

But life at the Jane Willard Foundation is full of surprises for both Dimsie and her cousin. First, a new headmistress takes over; then the older girls organise a strike over hockey practice. Daphne, as acting head girl, is thrown into the midst of the dispute, while Dimsie finds herself coming to her cousin's defence. Then there is the affair of the burglar and the missing subscriptions, the mysterious "Princess Potentilla" and Laird, the big friendly Airedale dog . . .

Dimsie is wholeheartedly involved in it all, from the first minor scrape to the final ecstatic chapter.

This is the first in the series of Dimsie books by Dorita Fairlie Bruce.
