Jennings and Darbishire
   by Anthony Buckeridge

"I've got it, Darbi!" cried Jennings. "We'll go fishing. All we need is a hook and a long piece of string, and there we are." The essence of Jennings' plan lay in the fact that Mr Wilkins chimney emerged on to a flat roof . . . If the parcel was not too tightly wedged, might it not be possible to retrieve it by lowering a hook down the chimney?

The trouble with Jennings is that he has his own extraordinary way of doing things. Given an Ideal Printing Outfit for his birthday, he hit on a Great Idea . . . a newspaper called the Third Form Times. And what could be hotter news than a photo of a French fishing boat in the local harbour taken with Jennings' new camera? But Darbishire's French isn't up to much . . . nor is the fisherman's English. Result: the boys are given a large parcel of fresh fish which they smuggle back to school and which in a moment of desperation Jennings shoves up the irascible Mr Wilkins' chimney!

Another really funny story about Jennings and his friends, packed with all the usual scrapes into which the impetuous Jennings gets himself and them. His adventures have already been told on television, radio, film, records, stage plays and tape cassettes. The books have been translated into twelve languages and sold more than three million copies. Now Anthony Buckeridge has re-edited them for the entertainment of a new generation of young readers.
