Mr Jupp beamed at Himself the talking dog. "In a few minutes,"
he said, "you'll be the happiest, proudest dog in Ireland.
How would you and Timothy like to go to the United States
of America?" Himself was not tempted even by the promise of
earning a hundred thousand pounds if he starred in television
commercials for dog meat. Only recently he had escaped once
again from his old enemy the circus dog trainer, and the more
people who discovered he could talk, the greater his danger
of being kidnapped. The money wasn't worth the risk, not even
to help the monks of Clongarrie take more children into their
orphanage. "You will travel to America like princes," went
on Mr Jupp, "and stay at a wonderful hotel in New York with
a chauffeur to drive you wherever you want to go. Himself
wasn't impressed. "No," he said, "I'm staying in Ireland,"
and he meant it too. But things always had a habit of turning
out unexpectedly for Himself and Timothy, and after all it
wasn't so very long before they said goodbye to their homely
caravan and set sail for adventure in New York!Readers of
A Dog Called Himself and Himself and Macafferty's Queen will
be delighted to welcome the irrepressible talking terrier
to the stage again, together with his old friends Timothy
the Irish tinker and Brother Michael of Clongarrie
