Flying Site Information

For the past 20 + years the Wessex Soaring Association have used a range of slope soaring sites not normally open to public use. Permission to use the sites has been granted by the landowners, in return for which the WSA have responsibility to ensure its members are informed of the changing access arrangements. All of the sites are on active managed land and access varies from month to month according to crops, shooting activities and live-stock.

WSA also have the use of flat field sites near Wimborne Minster (Dorset). Availability of these fields varies according to livestock and silage requirements of the farmer, but normally at least one field is available throughout the year.

A large part of the association membership fees goes towards the maintenance of the sites.

Visitors are welcome, but must contact one of the committee members in advance in order to check site availability.

Full details of the site locations, rules and access restrictions is given as part of the membership joining package.

To find out about public flying sites please see this page on the Federation of Dorset Model Flying Clubs
