Oakwell Hall
Nutter Lane, Birstall

On the site are the rehabilitated Four Gardens for All which received a grant from the first round of Food Futures and which were opened at the last of the series of Food Futures workshops in 2001 by the then new Mayor of Kirklees Cllr Mohan Sokhal, on his first day in office.

The first phase links and improves access for visitors, including disabled people.

They comprise:
the Formal Garden, with its box hedges and herbaceous borders representing the design ethos of its period,
the Wildlife Access Garden, demonstrating the wealth and diversity of life that can be enjoyed within a relatively small area.
the Arboretum offering a sense of calm and peace with its collection of nearly fifty trees from around the world
the Working garden, with its important collection of fruit trees and cottage garden.

The gardens are open every day.
