West Yorkshire activities

To find position of West Yorkshire, in England

The Group meets irregularly, but is open to anyone living in the Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield areas. We keep in touch through a newsletter sent to members.

We arrange talks and visits to organic farms, gardens and allotments.

Our biggest success has been our annual organic vegetable show each autumn. For several years up to 1998 it was held at Cleckheaton Town Hall. For the tenth one, in 1999, we moved to the Carlisle Business Centre in Bradford, and from then on to Shipley College. From then on we added our very popular Potato Day each February at the same venue.

Resource Efficiency Clubs
in Yorkshire

Funding is available through a Landskill project being run by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) for farmers in Yorkshire. Its aim is to help farmers improve their business and environmental performance through more efficient use of resources.

The Clubs will be established by recruiting farmers from a geographical area or sector such as organic producers. Members will decide what training they require and FWAG will organise it.

Topics covered will be:
" Energy use;
" Nutrient management;
" Water use and conservation;
" Waste reduction, re-use and recycling.
