General Classes

Balanced sequences of postural, relaxation and breathing exercises.  

MONDAY  

6.30- 8pm: General Yoga, Marlies Moes

‘Moving with breath’ is the main focus of this class and it is suitable for all.  The body and mind are explored by using different relaxation techniques and ‘re-learning’ how to breathe.

8-9.30pm: Beginners, Julie Bullock

A gentle introduction to the postures, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and philosophy that make up yoga.  This is a fixed course that requires pre-booking. Check start-dates with reception.

TUESDAY

12.30-1.30pm: General Yoga, Peter Falloon-Goodhew

The emphasis of this class is on the alignment and strengthening of the body, with a strong focus on the breath.  All levels of experience are catered for.

6.30-8pm: General Yoga, Kathy Roberts

Working with standing poses, seated postures and towards the shoulder-stand, this is a dynamic class. Suitable for people with experience of yoga.

WEDNESDAY

12.30-1.15pm: Yoga for Men, Tim Naylor

Dynamic yoga class tailored for men.  Posture work increases strength and suppleness, while breathing and relaxation techniques help to combat stress. 

1-1.45pm: Deep Relaxation, Swami Satvikananda Saraswati

Yoga breathing and relaxation techniques are used to achieve a state of deep relaxation to revive you both physically and mentally.  Suitable for anyone suffering from tension, stress, anxiety, fatigue, ME or similar conditions, or for those just simply wishing to relax.  

6.30-8pm: General Yoga, Sal Wood

Through releasing, stretching & strengthening, this class brings you into deeper contact with your body, its movements, energy and breath.  The teacher was initially trained in the Iyengar tradition and now emphasises aspects of sensory awareness and body/mind centring.  This class is most suited for people with prior experience of yoga.  

8-9.30pm: Intermediate, Sal Wood

Similar to her general class, this is intended for those who have been practising regularly for some time or for students of her general class who wish to deepen their practice and move towards more advanced inversions and backbends.

THURSDAY

12.30-1.30pm: General Yoga, Jane Tudman

Class includes floor work and gentle stretching, working with breath and gravity to release the spine.  Emphasis is on releasing naturally into postures with time to explore and cultivate awareness.  Suitable for mixed abilities, including beginners and those with mild back problems.

6.30-8pm: General Yoga, Peter Falloon-Goodhew

This class is suitable for everyone, regardless of experience.  The emphasis is on postures to increase strength and flexibility, on breathing and on inner awareness, in order to help students realise qualities of “stillness and mindfulness”.

FRIDAY

12.30-1.30pm: General Yoga, Liz Taylor

A moderately strenuous class, suitable for all levels of experience and ability, consisting of stretching, strengthening and breathing exercises.  Especially beneficial for strengthening the back, with work on neck and shoulders often included.  Plus breathing practice, use of sound and a short relaxation.

6.30-8pm: General Yoga, Siri Datta

A Kundalini yoga & meditation class, concentrating on clearing the chakra’s, strengthening the immune and endocrine systems, stilling the mind and emotions, increasing ability for self-love and enhancing awareness. All welcome.

SATURDAY

11.30-1pm: General Yoga, Liz Taylor

A moderately strenuous class, with emphasis on releasing tension and unwinding after the week.  Suitable for all, including people with mild back and neck problems, this class focuses on classical postures, mobilising joints, breathing practises and deep relaxation.
